Alaska is retiring its 737 Combi fleet (cargo in the front, party in the back) this week. They’re being replaced with 737-700 freighters, but Alaska has put together a bunch of historic photos and a short video of the infamous “milk run” for the retirement.

I want to have a beer with the person who bought an Isetta to use in Alaska.

Yeah I’d imagine they’d have been quite the character. Sadly they didn’t have a photo of the Toyota pickup they hauled one time for Zoidberg, but it did get a mention in one of the links.

The greatest thing Alaska Airlines has done is haul my butt to Maui four times.

They did! Then again they flew me back home too, which is not very nice.

Thanks for the post. I worked for Boeing for almost 20 years and never knew these existed.

I’ve flown 100's of thousands of miles on Alaska, the last two years they’ve behaved like American and United. No more of their bullshit. Southwest is the last bastion of normalcy in domestic travel (I hear Jet Blue is good too).

Still pretty good out west, but I gotta admit, some of the east coast stations are not great, and I’ve had a couple of bad experiences. Way less than United though, and for some reason Southwest flights seem to get delayed when I’m involved. Delta has strangely upped its game quite a bit though.

I think the -400s were converted by Alaska, there wasn’t a factory Combi/Quickchange variant like with the -200s.
